CRP, or C-reactive protein, is a substance the liver releases when there is inflammation in the body. This nephelometric method measures it precisely, including the lower levels relevant to long-term health.

A raised CRP can help detect inflammation or infection, and lower-level readings are also linked to cardiovascular risk. Because many things can raise CRP, the result is general rather than specific and is interpreted alongside your symptoms and other tests.
