Fasting Blood Glucose

The Fasting Blood Glucose test measures the level of sugar in your blood after you have not eaten for several hours. Fasting gives a clear baseline reading without the influence of a recent meal.

This test is widely used to screen for diabetes and prediabetes and to monitor blood sugar control over time. A raised result may indicate that the body is not managing glucose well, and it is usually confirmed with repeat or additional testing such as HbA1c.

This explanation is for general information and is not medical advice. Your results are always interpreted by a doctor.
