Laboratory Tests
Gonococcus Culture
A Gonococcus Culture is a laboratory test that detects the bacterium responsible for gonorrhoea, a common sexually transmitted infection. A sample is grown in the laboratory to confirm whether the organism is present.
Gonorrhoea does not always cause symptoms, yet if left untreated it may affect reproductive and general health. Detecting it through a Gonococcus Culture allows for prompt, effective treatment, and the culture can also provide useful information about the infection. Results are handled confidentially.
