LDL Cholesterol

LDL Cholesterol is often called the bad cholesterol because, when present in excess, it can build up in the walls of the arteries. This blood test measures how much LDL is circulating in your blood.

A higher LDL level is associated with an increased risk of heart disease and stroke over time. It is one of the most important numbers in a cholesterol profile and is interpreted alongside HDL, triglycerides and your overall cardiovascular risk factors.
