Magnesium
The magnesium blood test measures the level of this essential mineral in your body. Magnesium plays a part in hundreds of processes, including muscle and nerve function, energy production and maintaining a steady heart rhythm.
Low magnesium may contribute to muscle cramps, fatigue or irregular heartbeats, while levels can be affected by diet, medicines and kidney function. Checking magnesium can help explain certain symptoms and is often considered alongside other electrolytes such as calcium and potassium.
