Laboratory Tests
Phosphorus
The phosphorus blood test measures the level of this mineral in your body. Phosphorus works closely with calcium to keep bones and teeth strong and also plays a role in energy production and many cellular processes.
Abnormal phosphorus levels may relate to kidney function, bone health, vitamin D status or the parathyroid glands. Because phosphorus and calcium are closely balanced, the result is usually interpreted alongside calcium and other related tests for a clearer picture.
This explanation is for general information and is not medical advice. Your results are always interpreted by a doctor.
