Laboratory Tests

Anti-HCV

Anti-HCV is a screening blood test that detects antibodies to the hepatitis C virus. A positive result means the body has been exposed to the virus at some point, either currently or in the past.

Because antibodies can remain after the infection has cleared, a positive Anti-HCV test does not by itself confirm an active infection. It is followed by further testing to check whether the virus is still present, so early detection allows timely assessment and care.
