Laboratory Tests
CA 125
CA 125 is a protein measured in the blood and used as a tumour marker, most often in the assessment of ovarian and other gynaecological conditions. The test checks whether levels are higher than expected.
A raised CA 125 can have many causes, including benign conditions, so it is not a stand-alone diagnosis. It is most useful for monitoring known conditions and is interpreted together with imaging, examination and your symptoms for a fuller picture.
This explanation is for general information and is not medical advice. Your results are always interpreted by a doctor.
