Laboratory Tests
CA 19-9
CA 19-9 is a blood-based tumour marker used in the assessment of pancreatic and certain gastrointestinal conditions. The test measures whether the level is raised compared with the normal range.
Because it can rise in both cancerous and non-cancerous conditions, CA 19-9 is not used alone to make a diagnosis. It is most helpful for monitoring a known condition and is always considered together with imaging and other clinical findings.
This explanation is for general information and is not medical advice. Your results are always interpreted by a doctor.
