Triglycerides

Triglycerides are a type of fat carried in the blood, and this test measures their level. They are an important energy source, but raised levels are relevant to both heart and metabolic health.

High triglycerides may indicate an increased cardiovascular risk and are often linked with diet, weight and blood sugar control. They form part of a full cholesterol profile and are usually measured after fasting, then interpreted alongside HDL, LDL and your other results.

This explanation is for general information and is not medical advice. Your results are always interpreted by a doctor.
