Folic Acid

The Folic Acid test measures the level of folate, a B vitamin, in your blood. Folate is essential for making healthy red blood cells and for normal cell growth and repair.

Low folic acid may indicate a dietary shortfall or absorption problem and can contribute to a particular type of anaemia and tiredness. Adequate folate is especially important before and during pregnancy, so checking the level can help guide diet or supplementation.
