Laboratory Tests
Lipase
Lipase is an enzyme produced mainly by the pancreas to help digest fats. This blood test measures the amount of lipase in your bloodstream.
A raised lipase level can help detect inflammation or other disorders of the pancreas and is often considered a reliable marker for this purpose. Because other conditions can also affect it, the result is interpreted together with your symptoms and, where relevant, the amylase result.
This explanation is for general information and is not medical advice. Your results are always interpreted by a doctor.
