Vitamin B12

Vitamin B12 is measured by a blood test that shows how much of this essential vitamin you have. B12 is vital for healthy nerves, brain function and the formation of red blood cells.

Low vitamin B12 may indicate a dietary shortfall or absorption problem and can lead to tiredness, a particular type of anaemia and nerve-related symptoms. Checking your level can help explain such symptoms and guide whether dietary changes or supplementation would be helpful.

This explanation is for general information and is not medical advice. Your results are always interpreted by a doctor.
